Coaches

John Gagliano enters his 27th season as Howell’s Head Wrestling Coach. He graduated from Howell in 1987 as the career leader in wins and went on to wrestle at Middlesex County College. Coach Gagliano continued his education and wrestling career at Kean College where he earned a degree in Health and Physical Education. While at Kean, he was a two-time team captain, a two-time national qualifier, and an Academic All-American. Coach Gagliano has achieved great success since returning to his alma mater to teach and coach. Among his most noted coaching accomplishments are 20 A-North championships; 23 Holiday Championships; Eight District Titles & Five State Sectional Championships and Two Group V Championship. He coached Four State Champions and a National Champion Joey Langel, Eric Keosseian & Hunter Mays 2x, four State runner ups and Howell's Most Winning Wrestler, a two-time state runner up, Shane Reitsma. Coach Gagliano’s coaching record stands at 522-84. Coach “Gags” and his wife Francine live in Howell with their three children, Theresa, Anthony, and Christina & grandchildren Olivia & Giovanni.

Coaches

Pat Trabucco has been wrestling since the age of five. He was trained at the Edge School of Wrestling under Ernie Monaco and competed at Livingston High School under Hall of Fame coach, Bob "Bobby" Keenan. He wrestled for two years at the Division 1 Level, Lock Haven University and Indiana University (Big Ten), before injuries ended his career. For the past 20 years he has coached athletes on all levels as well as numerous district, region and state place winners. His wrestlers have gone on to compete at the Division 1 level. Pat was a 4x County, District and Region Champion. He was a 4x NJSIAA State Place Winner (3rd,5th,6th,2nd), a High School All-American and a 3X Freestyle High School State Champ. His record was 122-6 at Livingston High School. He is a region 4 Hall of Fame member.

Nick Farrar enters his 5th year as the Freshmen wrestling coach and girls coach at Howell High School. A graduate of Jackson Memorial in 2006, Coach Farrar was a part of the wrestling and lacrosse programs. Upon graduating Montclair State University and playing lacrosse, he began teaching special education and coaching wrestling at Goetz Middle School in Jackson from 2011-2018. Coach Farrar currently teaches Health and Physical Education at Howell High School while living in Manalapan with his wife Chelsea his daughter Colbie and son Avery

Joe Falco Coach Falco enters his 2nd season as an Assistant Coach for Howell High School. He was a 2007 graduate of Ocean Township High School. During his High School career Joe won 118 matches, was a 3X District Champion (4X Finalist), 3X Region Finalist, as well as finishing 5th place at the NJSIAA State Championships at 160 pounds in 2007. Joe continued his wrestling and football career at TCNJ where he was a 2009 Ursinus Fall Brawl and YorkInvitational Champion at 157 pounds. Joe was also an All-Conference Honorable Mention Running Back for the TCNJ Football Team. Joe is currently an Instructor at the New Jersey State Police Academy specializing in the physical training squad. Joe has been a NJ State Trooper since 2013 graduating in the 152nd Class. He currently resides in Howell with his wife Shelby, his son Luke and daughter Naomi.

WIllie Scott is starting his first season with the rebels. he was a Four-year letter winner at Brick Township High School. He placed sixth at NJSIAA State Championships at 160 pounds in 2015, also capturing a district championship. He holds the state record for most tech falls in his career (49) and in a single season (23) He posted a 102-28 record in high school. He then went on to wrestle at Rutgers 2015-2020. he was a 2018 Midlands 5th place finisher and he Competed at 2020 Big Tens. His college record was 47-34.

WALTER BAYNE was a District 21 Champ at Howell High School in 1995, and attended Stockton University. Coach Bayne returns home to Howell High School after being an Assistant Coach at Freehold Regional High School since 2005. Bayne started the Girls program there in 2021-22. Coaching highlights include helping coach the programs first Region and Shore Conference Champions as well as three state place-winners during the 2022-23 season.

Petey Reilly begins his 9th season with the Howell Rebel Wrestling program as a volunteer coach. He is a 2004 Freehold Township High School graduate. Coach Reilly was a three sport varsity athlete for Freehold Township in Football, Wrestling, & Lacrosse. He was a District Champion and went on to wrestle at Johnson & Wales University, where he was a captain for two years and a two-time Conference Place winner. He coached at Freehold Township for five years. Petey is also one of the coaches at the Predator wrestling program. He currently resides in Howell with his wife Abby and their children Mason, Carter and Rowan

Sean Silverstein is entering his 4th year as a volunteer coach. He is a 2015 graduate of Howell High School and a three-time varsity letter winner. During his time at Howell he was a two-time District place winner and Region 6 qualifier. Sean was also part of the first State Sectional and Shore Conference Championship at Howell High School. He currently is a substitute teacher in the Freehold Regional High School District. Coach Sean resides in Howell.


COACHES

Kyle Cocozza is entering his 3rd year as volunteer wrestling coach for the Rebels. He is a 2014 graduate of Howell High School where he was awarded a varsity letter in football and wrestling. Kyle finished just shy of 75 wins and ended his senior year as a top 12 Hwt wrestler for the state of NJ. He is a former 2x District Champion and Region 6 Champion. Coach Cocozza continued his wrestling career at the College of New Jersey where he was their Hwt and notched a few honorable mentions in the national rankings. He is super excited to take part in this wonderful program and is looking forward to working with the young men and women. He brings along a great mindset, work ethic, and experience to the program. Kyle currently works in the solar industry and resides in Farmingdale.


COACHES

Anthony Gagliano is entering his 2nd year as a volunteer coach. He is a 2016 graduate of Howell High School and a four-time varsity letter winner. During his time at Howell Anthony was a 2x team captain, a 3x Holiday Tournament Champion, 2x District Champion, 2x Region 6 place winner and 2x State Qualifier. He finished his career with 121 wins. He wrestled for The College of New Jersey where he started for the Lions and was named captain his senior year. He currently works for Jersey Mike’s Corporate and resides in Howell.

STAFF

Rich Famularo has been a part of Howell’s staff for the past twenty six years. Prior to joining the Rebels, he established and coordinated Howell’s nationally-recognized recreation club, The Howell Predator, which has been a tremendous feeder system for the high school’s wrestling program for the past 28 years. Much of Richs time with the Rebels has been spent working closely with our Jr Varsity Wrestlers. Additionally, Rich Volunteers his time at a local middle school and college club program in a continuous effort to promote the sport. Rich, A graduate of Philli[sburg High School and a member of the schools vaunted wrestling tradition, has brought P’burg’s wining tradition to Howell High School. A resident of the Howell community “Coach Rich” remains active mentoring both our wrestlers and coaches.

Mike Verrochi excelled in both football and wrestling at Long Branch High School. In 1973, he was both a district and region runner-up at 178 pounds. After graduation, Coach Verrochi went on to Trenton State College where he participated in both football and wrestling. He has been a wrestling icon at Howell since 1982, turning out numerous undefeated freshmen and junior varsity teams. He has been certified as a wrestling official for the past twenty-eight years. He adds experience and inspiration to our wrestling program. In 1980 Coach Verrochi retired from Howell High School’s physical education department. “V Rock” currently resides in Howell Township. He has never forgotten his Long Branch roots, as he remains active in countless community programs
